Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed he will be opening a pub in Oxfordshire which will back UK farmers by providing only British farmed produce on its menu.

The man behind the popular series Clarkson's Farm said the pub, which will be called The Farmer's Dog, will open its doors officially at 12.30pm on Friday (August 23).

Having revealed the name yesterday (August 20), the Diddly Squat Farm owner said the public house was attempting to use British farmed produce in order to support British farmers following months of contending with poor weather conditions to grow food.

For instance, the tavern's black pepper will be provided by farmers from Cornwall.

Mr Clarkson said: "Our pub will only use British stuff.

"Because we want to help the farmers here.

"No-one else is."

Mr Clarkson's annual X post detailing his exam results nearly 50 years ago was also a timely reminder of highlighting how disappointment can be used to fuel inspiration.

"Do not worry if your A level results are not what you were hoping for," he told his eight million followers on the social media platform.

"I got a C and two Us, and here I am, 46 years later, with my own pub.

"It opens soon if you fancy dropping in."

However, concerns have been raised by residents about the level of traffic and parking which could be caused from the opening of the pub,

Oxford County Council's Liam Walker, said: "I have been hugely supportive of Jeremy's work not just for the farming community but for his boost to the local economy in West Oxfordshire.

"This latest venture will no doubt be a huge success, however I feel the county council needs to ensure lessons have been learnt from the farm shop particularly around the problematic verge parking.

"The pub location is not the same as the farm shop due to its location right next to a very busy and fast A40.

"The speed limit around the roundabout is going to be dropped from 60 to 40mph and work is currently ongoing to improve bus connections by installing new bus stops and paths.

"I have asked our team to investigate getting double yellows in place for the immediate area around the pub along with exploring the closure of the lay-by over the road.

"There seems to be a reluctance to do both these things and I know the Clarkson team are exploring the option to have a nearby field as another car park but this has yet to be confirmed.

"We know fans from across the country are going to flock to his pub and I feel we have a responsibility to try and make the roads nearby safe for visitors and those passing by."

The former Top Gear host has recently been praised after announcing he was partnering with a mental health service to ensure farmers struggling with their well-being had the support they needed.

"Farming can be a bit of a struggle," Mr Clarkson added.

"If you are finding it a bit tough at the moment, text HAWKSTONE to 85258.

"You will get free confidential support from a very experienced team of people from an organisation called Shout.

"It will be worth it.

"It is better than suffering in silence."
