The atmosphere is electric in the small, historic market in Sennybridge which is nestled in the Brecon Beacons and this was reflected in the trade with 30 rams selling in excess of 3,000gns.
Prices peaked at 12,000gns for a yearling ram from D. J. and M. D. Prosser, Blaenglyn, Brecon, which was knocked down to the Cnewr Estate, Sennybridge, after a bidding frenzy.
Following stiff competition in the pre-show sale, the father and son judging duo, Alun and Aron Hemmings, Llanfynydd, tapped out a home-bred yearling ram from J. R. Joseph, Brecon, as second place and reserve champion. It went under the hammer for 11,000gns to D. H. Morgan, Nantgwynne, Llanddeusant.

Spending some of their earnings, the Joseph family then bought a yearling from J. K. Morgan, Gorsllwyd, Sennybridge, at 10,500gns.
Seeing 7,000gns was A. and M. Jones, Rhysgog, Builth Wells, who had their best trade in many years, when selling to Messrs Thomas, Pwllan, Sennybridge.
Backing their judging descions, the judges, Messrs Hemmingswent on to buy the champion from D. G. B. and I. O. Thomas, Aberdyfnant, Llanddeusant, for 7,000gns.
The first of three vendors to make 6,000gns was T. B. Phillips, Twyn Neuadd, Brecon, whose ram sold to D. R. Price, Garreglwyd, Llanddeusant.
The consignment from Messrs Havard, Cwmbrynich , saw two rams to meet 6,000gns, both going with G. Davies, Pantglas.
D. J. M. Lloyd, Abersenny Uchaf, Sennybridge, topped their pen at 5,500gns for a yearling, which sold to D. G. Lewis, Cefn Uchaf, Sennybridge.
Despite not being able to show their tups due to their judging duties, Messrs Hemmings, sold rams to 5,000gns to D. G. B. and I. O. Thomas.
J. S. Abel, Llanidloes, bought a yearling from T. B. Phillips, Twyn Neuadd, Brecon for 5,000gns.
The last to reach 5,000gns was Messrs Joseph, for a yearling which sold to Messrs Thomas, Godrewaun, Llanddeusant.
Trade toppers, Messrs Prosser bought a yearling for 4,500gns from T. B. Phillips, Twyn Neuadd, Brecon.

Messrs Phillips then bought a tup from D. G. B. and I. O. Thomas, for 4,500gns and another from J. C. and D. Jones, Belfont, Trecastle, which topped their pen at 4,200gns.
Aged rams peaked at 2,200gns for a four-year-old ram from Messrs Joseph. Bred by I. G. and M. E. Jones, Pwll Isaf, it sold to R. W. and L. A. Jones, Lower Argoed, Builth Wells.
