Limousin bulls peak at 45,000gns at Carlisle for reserve champion

The British Limousin Cattle Society sale at Carlisle topped at 45,000gns for the reserve senior champion, Ampertaine Upfront

The sale topper was a September 2023-born son of Ampertaine Majestic out of Ampertaine Nice from W.J. and J. McKay, Maghera. The buyer was M. and M.A. Ridley, Hesket Newmarket for the Haltcliffe herd.

Next, at 20,000gns, was the senior champion, September 2023-born Cowin Ultrasonic by Westpit Omaha out of Cowin Medeni consigned by W.D.D. and C. James, Carmarthenshire, which sold to W. Ridley for the Woodhall herd, also Hesket Newmarket.

Five bulls sold for 18,000gns apiece. The first was first prize winner, Pabo United, an August 2023-born son of Pabo Rolex out of Pabo Nikki from W.P. Hughes and Son, Anglesey. It was knocked down to Messrs Massie, Ellon.

Next at 18,000ngs was the intermediate and overall champion, October 2023-born Goldies Upperclass by Ampertaine Elgin out of Goldies Joyeuse from Bruce Goldie, Mouswald, which went home with Messrs Knox, Kelso.

Garrowby Ubertron, an October 2023-born bull by Grahams Rooney out of Gunnerfleet Peloche consigned by Garrowby Farm, York, was the next to make 18,000gns when selling to Messrs Annett and Son, Morpeth.

Messrs Hendry, Banffshire, then paid 18,000gns for Seisiog Untouchable, an October 2023-born son of Ampertaine Elgin out of Wilodge Opulent from Tecwyn Jones, Anglesey.

The final bull to make 18,000gns was first prize winner, December 2023-born Maraiscote Usexything by Morhan Peter out of Maraiscote Olney from J. Nimmo, Wishaw, which went home to Monzie Farms, Crieff.

Females topped at 9,000gns for Harestone Suzette, a 2021-born daughter of Carrickmore Maximus out of Haltcliffe Millie from N.R. Barclay, Insch, which sold with a heifer calf at foot, Harestone Valentina by Record, to Messrs Irvine, Keith.

From the same home, Harestone Pearle, a 2019-born cow by Ampertaine Foreman along with a heifer calf, Harestone Vellore by Foxhillfarm Lordofthering made 8,200gns to Longwood Farm, Risborough.

Averages: 28 females, £4,785; 23 senior bulls, £11,093.47; 27 intermediate bulls, £10,002.22; 27 junior bulls, £9,177.77; 77 bulls overall, £10,039.09.
