STIRLING BULL SALES: Islavale leads Simmental bidding at 14,000gns twice

Simmental bulls sold to a 14,000gns high for Islavale, with the average up £411 on the year at £5,589 and a clearance rate of 64 per cent.

First to secure the 14,000gns bid for Stewart Stronach, Keith, was Islavale Kristoff 19, an 18-month-old bull by Corskie Highlander, whose sons have previously sold to 15,000gns at Stirling. Out of Islavale Ethel, a Delfur Casanova 11 daughter, Kristoff was knocked down to Pitgaveny Farms, Elgin. 


At the same money was Islavale Kai 19. Another 18-month-old bull from the same stable. Kai is a Curaheen Giant 2 son, out of Islavale Britney, an EX94 classified Popes Laird daughter. The buyers were J. and J. Pattullo, Kirriemuir. 


Making 11,500gns was Strathisla Kinloch 19, an 18-month-old bull from Strathisla Farms, Blairgowrie. By Atlow Dixton 12, and out of Strathisla Foxy's Mira from the breeders favoured herd dam line, it sold to R. and N. Barclay, Insch.


Broombrae Kojac 19, a March 2019-born bull from G.L. Clark, Auchtermuchty, Cupar, made 10,000gns. By Lisglass Goldstar, a show topper in previous years and winner of the senior bull class in the Simmental Society's virtual show this year, and out of Broombrae Delight E6, it was purchased by D. Lowry, Cartland, Lanark. 

At 9,000gns was the final bull through the ring, Greencap Kane 19, consigned by Colin Inglis, Aberdour. A June 2019-born bull by Denizes Fabio 14, it sold to D. and R. Durno and Sons, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch.

Making 8,500gns for M.A. Barlow, Leyland, was January 2019-born Denizes Kylian 19, a Denizes Hamish 16 son. The buyers were D. and M. Keay and Son, Kirriemuir.

At 8,000gns was Backmuir Knight 19, from Reece and Andrew Simmers, Keith. March 2019-born and by Corrick Hayden 16, it sold to E. M. Smith and Sons, Keith.

Female trade tops at 4,800gns for Denizes

Simmental females sold to a 4,800gns high for Michael Barlow, Leyland, with the first calved heifer Denizes Trixie Belle 12 leading the bids.

A Dinton Nautical daughter, it sold in-calf with its May-2020 born heifer calf at foot, Denizes Trixie Belle 17, to W. Stevenson, Ballingry, Fife.

Next at 3,600gns was Cairnview Tilly 3, a six-year-old cow by Bruchag Awesome, from A.J. Wilson, Kilwinning. It sold with its June-2020 born heifer calf at foot to B. Steel, Thornhill.
