The Big Walk: The first ever #farm24 charity walk to raise money for farming charities

This year some of the Farmers Guardian team will embark on an epic challenge – a 24-hour walk to raise money for Farms For City Children and Len's Light for this year's 24 Hours in Farming event.

Trekking across the Cotswold countryside, the FG team aims to raise as much money as possible and shine the biggest spotlight on the industry and the challenges it faces.

Editor Katie Jones says: "This is our way of giving back to the rural community. Farming is known for raising huge amounts of money for brilliant causes, and what better way to showcase what farming is really all about than a 24 hour walk to coincide with the sector's biggest consumer facing event?

"I am looking forward to what is set to be a mammoth but rewarding task."

Consumer connection

24 Hours in Farming - or #farm24 - is agriculture's biggest digital event, where farmers take to social media to showcase what really goes on for 24 hours.

There are, however, challenges facing the industry, and by raising money for the chosen charities, we can highlight the sometimes taboo subject of mental health.

But we also want to encourage people to connect with the countryside and inspire the next generation.

For more information, keep an eye on the #farm24 hub over the coming weeks.
