The haltered cattle were judged by Shaun Marsh, Kent, who awarded the championship to the any other breed class winner, a black British Blue heifer from F. and M.P. Allinson and Son, West Briscoe, Baldersdale, which he went on the buy for the top price of £6,000. Messrs Allinson also had the second and third prize winners in the class, British Blues which sold for £4,800 and £2,250 respectively.
The reserve heifer champion, the winning Limousin heifer from J.E. and J. Dobson and Son, Frosterley, sold for £4,000.
The second and fourth prize Limousin heifers, both from T.W. Hutchinson, Forest-in-Teesdale, made £2,750 and £3,000 respectively.
The top price steer at £4,200 was male champion, a British Blue consigned by R. Hutchinson and Son, Valley Farm, Bowes, which sold to Neil Slack and Elizabeth Haughan, Penrith.
The un-haltered cattle were judged by James Crichton, Egremont, who chose as champion the first prize Limousin heifer from B. and S. Teasdale and Son, Bishop Auckland, as champion, which went on to sell for £3,500.
Reserve unhaltered champion was a British Blue steer from K.O. Stones, Richmond, which sold for £2,220.
