Discussion

This year LAMMA also hosted CropTec and Low Carbon Agriculture Show, and various panels have taken place throughout the day including Fuels for Farmers, highlighting the latest developments in low-emission vehicles and alternative fuels for farming, the Farmer-led Innovation session and the diversity and new entrant panel, held in the Future in Farming zone.

Save Britain's Family Farms

The Farmers Guardian's Save Britain's Family Farms campaign session also brought in the crowds, as Conservative Shadow Defra Secretary Victoria Atkins spoke of the fight that farming still has on its hands.

She said: "We will carry on this fight for you, to make sure Labour understand the impact around [policies] that make life difficult.

"We understand the damage."

Simon Weaving, director of sales at Weaving Machinery, spoke of the turbulence over the last 12 months.

He said the business has had a good five years, but currently it is as though someone has 'turned off a light switch'.

And in terms of the impact of Government policy such as Inheritance Tax, he said the ripple effect it will have could be devastating on ancillary industries.

FG's machinery and technology specialist James Huyton's top machinery moments:

  • JCB Fastrac 6000
  • Bateman Sprayers RB60
  • Grange 6m trailed LDL
  • Knight Trailblazer

"It has been great to see innovative British manufacturers showcasing new products, and it is a true celebration of the technology and drive that embodies British farming," said James.

Future in Farming stage

Future of Farming, a new campaign launched by Agriconnect's AgriWorks at LAMMA, held various panels across the two days, delving into topics such as profitability and sustainability.

The stage also hosted curriculum and diversity talks with farming stars Harriet Cowan and Hannah Jackson.
