Bishket Unique

It was the continental champion, the Limousin heifer, Bishket Unique, which went on to take the supreme beef title for Emma Bishop, Milton Keynes. Home-bred by Brockhurst Nosferatu out of Ronick Ruby, this two-year-old heifer is in-calf to a Tomschoice bull and was successfully shown last year.

Standing reserve overall was the commercial champion, Black Velvet, a January 2024-born heifer from Kevin Ludgate and family, Leighton Buzzard, shown by Will Ludgate.
By the Limousin bull, Millgate Rob out of a British Blue cross Limousin cow, it was bought privately from breeders, P.J. and T.A. Jones, Builth Wells, last autumn.

Inter-breed judge, Clive Roads, Malvern, said: "The Limousin heifers has plenty of length and loin and shape where it mattered and is very correct with great style and locomotion.
"The reserve is a superb example of a commercial animal, very clean through its shoulder and with a tremendous loin, it also had good locomotion."

The native championship went to the Lincoln Red champion, Brackenhurst Commander, a two-year-old bull by Premier Young Gun out of Brwacenhurst Diana Y528 from Brackenhurst Nottingham Trent University, Southwell, and shown by farm manager, Neil Hodgson, which is being retained as a stock bull.

SHEEP

In the sheep rings for the third year in succession the inter-breed title went to George Hoggard's Manor House flock, Newark. This year his supreme winner was a shearling ewe by Logie Durno Jackpot which had been bought as a lamb from the Ingram family's Logie Durno flock, Inverurie, at an online sale and was making its showring debut.

In reserve was the Beltex champion, Windmill Katie, a home-bred shearling gimmer from Victoria and Gillian Bowring, Mansfield. By Buckles Fizzy Pop out of Windmill Gertie, it had been breed champion at Lincolnshire Show last year.

Reserve inter-breed and Beltex champion

One of the strongest sections was the Blue Texels where the championship went to Jade Bett, Louth, with a home-bred ewe lamb from her Yarburgh flock which is from the first crop of new stock ram, Ettrick Jackpot.

It was a clean sweep for Martyn Robinson and family, Yaddlethorpe, in the Lincoln Longwool section taking champion with the home-bred two-shear ram, Yaddlethorpe Constable and reserve with a yearling gimmer in wool.

The Suffolk championship went to Chris and Laura Beck, Halesworth, with a home-bred shearling gimmer by Redbrae Majestic out of a Jalex bred ewe.

PIGS

Raisinhall Precious 14, a home-bred Hampshire gilt from Jodie Fairclough and Stuart Roberts, Northallerton, claimed the pig inter-breed supreme title, after first being awarded the modern championship.

In reserve was the traditional champion, Calcaria Excelsa 7, a Berkshire gilt from Ron Fieldhouse, Tadcaster, which was being shown for the first time.
Inter-breed judge, Arthur Gregory, Selby, said his champion had very strong opposition but  was very clean with good hams and a leg at each corner,  walked well and showed itself off well.
