Lincoln Reds led the trade at 8,000gns at the Farmers Guardian-supported multibreed show and sale of pedigree cattle at Melton Mowbray

The sale topper was the inter-breed champion, March 2023-born Brackenhurst Captain, the first son of Premier Young Gun to be sold out of Brackenhurst Ann, a Beverly Raider daughter. Consigned by Nottingham Trent University, Southwell, it sold to Heathlands Farm, Kings Lynn.

Reserve inter-breed champion was Glympton Bobby, an April 2023-born Aberdeen-Angus bull by Glympton Dubh Evander from Glympton Farms, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, which was knocked down to Little Oxendon Farms, Market Harborough for 5,000gns. The same vendor sold another Aberdeen-Angus bull, Glympton Rico, also by Dubh Evander at 5,000gns to G.A. and M.C. Crooks, Barrow on Soar.

Hereford bulls topped at 5,000gns for the breed champion, January 2024-born Pepperstock 1 Buster by Spartan 1 Typhoon from Speirs Farms, Luton, which went to H. Rudge, Ballingham.

Also making 5,000gns was Beverley Constable, a March 2023-born Lincoln Red bull by Beverley Samson from R.I. Clough and Son, Spilsby. The buyer was J. Morgan, Dover.

Salers bulls topped at 4,000gns for Rigel Tsar, a March 2023-born son of Lascaux consigned by Rigel Pedigrees, Yarm, which was knocked down to G.B. Peberby, Great Glen.
D. and P.A. Evans, Middlesbrough, sold their Aberdeen-Angus bull, Tree Bridge Ellem, a son of Tree Bridge Paterson for 4,000gns to D.J. Alder Farming, Oxfordshire.

The Spitalfields sale of British White cattle topped at 2,800gns for Swinton Banksy, an April 2023-born son of De Beauvoir Bacchus from Falshaw Partners, Masham, which sold to Emily Estates, Somerset.

Females sold to 3,500gns twice, both for Hereford heifers from Speirs Farms.
