It was the overall male champion from the pre-sale show, Swagger of Glenrath, from Glenrath Farms, Peebles, and presented by stockman, Joe Cockburn, which was the record breaker.
The August 2023-born son of Olympian of Troloss sold in a two-way split to John, Ann, and Iain Finlay, Blackcraig, Corsock, and Robbie Galloway, Cardona, Doune.
Record holder
Glenrath Farms, which set the new record, was the buyer of the previous record holder, Blackcraig Dyker at 26,000gns in 2023.
They also sold Spartacus of Glenrath, a son of Quattro of Troloss for 7,000gns to J. and S. Ross, Shawhead, and the reserve overall male champion, 21-month-old Stealth of Glenrath by Troloss Nimrod, for 4,000gns to J.W. Hall, Malham Moor, Settle. Their four bulls averaged £11,287.50.

First-time exhibitors Ali and Leisa Warden, Hawick, took 24,000gns for their bull, Skelfhill Fortnum, a Barlaes Rivellino son out of Blackcraig Bertha B1057, which was bought by the society's vice-chair, Robert McTurk, Dalry.
Mr Warden also judged the heifers and backed his judgment by paying 4,200gns for the reserve female champion, Brownie 11 of Fingland, an Oryany of Balgray daughter from Jimmy Wallace, Fingland, Dalry.

The female champion, Blackcraig Libby E1474 bred by the Finlay family, Blackcraig, made the top female price of 9,000gns. By Nucamp of Balgray out of Blackcraig Libby Z809, it sold to Catherine MacGregor, Stirling.
Back to the bulls, Messrs Finlay took 14,000gns for Blackcraig Fencer by Dava Donald, which was knocked down to J. Maxwell, Fintry, Glasgow.
Haaland of Fingland, a son of Warhorse of Fingland from Messrs Wallace sold for 10,000gns to I.H.G. Warden, Hawick.

Making 10,000gns was Fame of Kilnstown by Quartz of Kilnstown consigned by Kilnstown Farms, Bewcastle, which went to B. Dickinson and Co, Kentmere.
The 24 bulls averaged £6,822.81, up £1,314.68 on 2024, with a 66% clearance rate. The 18 heifers sold with an 88% clearance rate, with bulling heifers averaging £3,339.00, up £1,573.09, and heifers having run with a bull averaging £2,310.
