Danny Jones, member of the band McFly, has provided his support for a farming campaign highlighting the benefits of red meat and dairy.

Mr Jones, lead vocalist and guitarist of the pop-rock group which took inspiration from Back to the Future character Marty McFly when choosing their name, has partnered with AHDB for its Let's Eat Balanced campaign to showcase his passion for farm produce.

Let's Eat Balanced, which launched earlier this to promote red meat and dairy, is expected to reach 42 million adults with advertisements also appearing on mainstream television and digital channels.

Colin Bateman, AHDB Beef and Lamb sector council chair, said the purpose of the campaign not only delivers vital information to consumers about maintaining a 'nutritious and tasty diet', but also highlights the efforts of farmers in their dedication to 'high welfare, environmentally friendly and world-class food and farming standards'.

Known for hits including 'Five Colours in her Hair', 'Star Girl' and 'All About You', Mr Jones has also appeared on BBC's cooking programme MasterChef where he reached the final.

AHDB had tasked Mr Jones with creating some of his favourite recipes using lean red meat and dairy - highlighting their true star power as part of a 'healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle'.

Each recipe uses a specific nutritional benefit, such as iron in beef, calcium and protein in dairy, and vitamin B12 in lamb - which helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue.

The dishes Mr Jones cooked up included beef satay skewers with brown rice, yogurt pancakes with blueberry compote and Moroccan spiced lamb flatbreads.

Mr Jones said: "I absolutely love Asian-style flavours, and my recipe for Satay Beef Skewers is an absolute crowd-pleaser.

"I am sure you will love it too!"

You can find more information about the recipes here.
