The sale of South Country Cheviot hill rams at Lockerbie peaked at £18,000 twice.

The first ram at this money was a son of Glenochar Knockout from R.H Paton, Castle Crawford, Biggar. The buyer was Stirkfield Farms, Biggar.

Next from W.J.C. and S.J. Weir, Hownam, was a two-shear ram by Stirkfield Craig, which was knocked down to James Common and Son, Lockerbie.

Making £12,000 was a two-shear ram from T. Elliot, Hindhope, Jedburgh. The son of Hindhope Beretta went home with Messrs Macmillan, Glasgow.

Also selling for £12,000 was a shearling ram by Castle Hercules consigned by Niel Manning, Tweedsmuir, which sold to Messrs Douglas, Yarrow.
A ram by Becks Quicksilver from Messrs Common made £10,000 in a two-way split to Messrs Irving and Son, Selkirk, and Messrs Douglas. Another ram from the same home, this time by Becks Revolution also made £10,000 to Messrs Paton, Thornhill, and Messrs Thomas, Biggar.

Messrs Common then paid £10,000 for a two-shear ram by Skelfhill Special from I.H.G. Warden, Hawick.

Averages - 346 Cheviot rams, £1,380.25.
