Dinmore Virginia

At one of the first county shows of the season a British Blue heifer claimed the junior and continental championships before going on the take the overall title. This was Dinmore Virginia, an April 2025-born daughter of Empire D'Ochain, owned by the British Blue Cattle Society president, Mary Brown and her granddaughter, Daisy Haigh, Ossington, who keep 10 British Blue cows. Bought privately last year from breeder, Paul Dawes, it was second as a calf at the English Winter Fair and will now head to Hertfordshire County and the Great Yorkshire Show.
Judge, Pete Bodily, Milton Keynes, said his champion was a very balanced modern heifer which was very showy and a great cow maker.

Standing reserve overall was the commercial champion, Toffee, a home-bred 545kg Limousin cross heifer by Wilodge Fantastic from Ben Beckitt, Newark, which Mr Bodily said had tremendous conformation and was very well fleshed.
The senior native championship went the Longhorn champion, Willowtree Zhazam, a January 2024-born heifer by Longbridge Whistler. It is owned by Alisha Lack, Easingwold, who works for Longbridge Longhorns, but keeps three cows of her own.

A Beltex shearling ram from the same home, which was bought at Carlisle last year from the Lapley flock, also took the breed championship.

The reserve sheep inter-breed title went to 16-year-old Cj, Cormack, Leicestershire, with a Charolais ram, bought last July from Bruce Ingram at Carlisle. He runs his own Braveheart flock of 12 Charollais ewes alongside the family's Blue Texel, Suffolks and Texels.

Pigs

The modern champion and reserve went on to take the inter-breed title and reserve in the pig section. The overall title went to Grace Bretherton, Preston, with Sunrise Vega, a May 2025-born British Landrace gilt by Sunrise Lorenzo F328. Bought from breeder, Steve Loveless in November last year, it is in-pig due in July and was making its show ring debut.

The traditional champion was Ivy, a home-bred, January 2026-born British Saddleback gilt from Jennie, Matthew and Scarlett Stone's Oakwoods herd, Thorpe.
The reserve traditional was Bleusky Orlando, a July 2025-born Berkshire boar owned by Skylar Hundson Jones, Newark.
