A top price of 20,000gns coupled with five heifers at five-figure prices resulted in an average of more than £7,500 for 33 heifers sold at the British Limousin Cattle Society's Red Ladies sale at Borderway

Selling for the top price was Grahams Unexpected, a December 2023-born daughter of the 180,000gns Graiggoch Rambo from the Grahams team, Stirling. First in its class, its dam is the Claragh Franco daughter, Grahams Precious. It sold to Messrs Barclay, Nairn.

Glenrock Vogue, 15,000gns

Next best at 15,000gns when sold to Allan and Susan Campbell, Lochgoilhead, was the second prize Glenrock Vogue from Stephen and Thomas Illingworth, Lockerbie. Its pedigree features Glenrock Redemption on to the Fenomen-sired Glenrock Option.

Goldies Victoriaspice, 14,000gns

At 14,000gns was the female champion, Goldies Victoriasprice from the Goldies family, Dumfries. Sired by Loosebeare Fantastic and out of an Ampertaine Elgin daughter, it sold to an undisclosed buyer.

At 12,000gns when sold to Taste Tradition, Ripon, was Goldies Veresa which is by Goldies Santa and out of the Ampertaine opportunity-sired Goldies Teresa. 

Making 10,000gns to Allan Campbell, Lanark, was Fairywater Vachel, a Grahams Rooney daughter from the Ewing family, Annan. Its dam is the Wildoge Vantastic-sired Drummin Kailee.

·        Leading the weaned calf offering at 10,000gns for Michael and Melanie Alford, Cullompton, was Foxhillfarm Arabella. This January-born Derrygullinane Kingbull daughter is out of Foxhillfarm Gracie, a Wilodge Vantastic daughter. Forking out the cash for the first prize winner was Messrs Loveless, Dorset.

An embryo brother named Foxhillfarm Admiral sold for 8,000gns to Messrs Morrison, Keith, topping the bull calf prices.

Kaprico Aslan from C. Stafford, Houghton Le Spring, also made 8,000gns when sold to the Goldie family. Born in April out of a Lodge Hamlet daughter, Kaprico Sorrel, this bull calf is by Tweeddale Lennox.

Heifer calves also reached 5,800gns for Goldies Angela which this time is by Ampertaine Opportunity and out of a Carrickmore Maximus daughter. It sold to Darren and Emma Young, Young Farm, Crewe.

Averages: Red Ladies – 33 maiden heifers, £7,582.27. Weaned calves – 9 bull calves, £5,716.67; 10 heifer calves, £4,504.50.
