Livestock ferry rule change withdrawn after being described as 'nonsensical'

Ferry operator CalMac had told farmers it would not operate bookings if there was not an 'attendant' available to administer euthanasia on journeys over three hours

According to CalMac, the measure was part of requirements by the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency which stated that livestock cannot be unaccompanied on a journey lasting over the threshold without a Transportation Authorisation Licence.
