One of the most renowned actors in the world, most famous for playing X-Men superhero Wolverine, is set to star in an upcoming film as a sheep farmer.

Hugh Jackman, also well-known for his role as P.T Barnum in The Greatest Showman, has been filming a new live-action movie based on a shepherd who 'loves his sheep and raises them for wool'.

Riding high on the success of Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine movie alongside Wrexham Football Club co-owner Ryan Reynolds, which has passed £1 billion at the global box office, Mr Jackman has reportedly been filming in Oxford over the past few months donning a blue denim shirt, a white top, a pair of tan trousers and a farmer's flat cap.

The comedy film follows Hugh Jackman's character, George Hardy, who reads a murder mystery to his sheep every night while pretending they can understand his every word.

However, the major plot detail is that the sheep can actually understand Mr Hardy's every word and they go on to 'argue for hours' about who committed the crime.

The movie's synopsis goes on to reveal that when Mr Jackman's character dies in 'mysterious circumstances', the sheep realise it was a murder and thus, they begin an adventure to catch the person responsible.

Emma Thompson and Nicholas Braun are set to co-star alongside the Wolverine actor, while Kyle Balda, the director of Despicable Me 3 and Minions, will direct the film.

Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie is due to be released in February 2026.
