An organic farm in Hampshire has broken a Guinness World Record for creating a tennis court sized pumpkin motif to a Christmas film tinged with elements of Halloween.

Sunnyfields Farm, based in Southampton, recreated Tim Burton's dark animation The Nightmare Before Christmas with a pumpkin display to 'pumpkin king' Jack Skellington earlier this month.

The farm - which has been managed for over 30 years by Ian and Louise Nelson - said it was a ‘pleasant surprise' to realise it had broken a Guinness World Record on Wednesday (October 18).

Adjudicators from the Guinness World Records said the mosaic measured 193.35 m² - nearly the size of a tennis court - with around 10,000 pumpkins used in its creation.

The Nelson family said a team of 10 people took around five hours to complete the pumpkin project.

After creating an impressive Paddington Bear motif to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II last year, Sunnyfields Farm had asked its followers on social media for suggestions on this year's display with the 1993 film coming out as a firm favourite.

With thousands of pumpkins to be seen and photo opportunities to be made, you can purchase your tickets here.
