Westmorland Agricultural Society announce new Chief Executive

Angela will take up her new role from November 1, 2023 and replaces Christine Knipe FRAgS who stood down from the position in March.

Angela has a strong agricultural background having resided in her early years close to Lane Farm on the family farm and she now lives with her husband and family on a beef and sheep farm in the Winster Valley.

Having worked for a local firm of solicitors, financial advisors and Estate Agents for the past twenty five years - holding the role of Operations Manager for the last ten - Angela brings to the Society a strong organisational skill set, a genuine passion for the promotion of agriculture and is keen to continue the development of all the society's activities and events.

Commenting on the appointment society Chairman, Lisa Bennett said "Angela impressed us with her understanding of the Society's ethos, aims and objectives and I have every confidence she has the skills, experience and drive to deliver and develop our charitable aims"

Angela Cornthwaite added "I am honoured and excited to have been given the opportunity to work with such a passionate and enthusiastic group of people, the majority of whom are volunteers and care deeply about our local agricultural heritage".

"I am looking forward to helping the annual two-day Westmorland Show grow and prosper whilst continuing to cement and develop the links we have with local schools and training providers to support the society's educational and training aims".
