Todhall flock leads Beltex trade

 This was for Todhall Hercules, a shearling ram by 9,000gns Wannop's Godfather out of a Callacrag Bull's Eye daughter.

Consigned by Andrew Wainwright, Cupar, it sold to the partnership of Messrs Wood, Broughton, Stuart Wood, Westhill, Messrs Taylor, Biggar, and Paul Tippetts, Shifnal.

Ainstable Hammer sold for 30,000gns

Next at 30,000gns was Ainstable Hammer, a son of Kingledores Engleburt from Brian Hall, Carlisle, which had been overall champion at Skelton Show. It was knocked down to Messrs Slater and Sons, Macclesfield.

From the same home as the sale leader and selling for 28,000gns was Todhall Hugo, also by Wannop's Godfather but out of a Rathbone Alien sired ewe. The buyer was Messrs McQuistin, Newton Stewart.

Three shearling rams sold for 12,000gns. First was Callacrag Hustler by Clary Dumfries from Andrew Baillie, Carstairs, which sold to E.F. and K. Laing, Biggar, Pentland Livestock, Blairgowrie, and B. and D. Wylie, Kirriemuir.

Next at this money was Kinglesdores Habib, a son of Borderesk Finders Keepers consigned by R.E. Wood and Sons, Biggar, which went home with Messrs MacLean, Isle of Tiree.

The final 12,000gns bid for Bronic High Flyer by Faughhill Gladiator from N.L. and C.J. Brown, Lancaster, which sold in a two-way split to Messrs Joel, Carnforth, and Messrs Crockett, via Carnforth.

Ram lambs

It was the male and overall supreme champion, Logie Durno Jack Daniels which led the ram lamb trade at 20,000gns. The son of Buckles Fury out of a Belvoir View Diamond Flame daughter from W. and C. Ingram, Inverurie, sold to Gary Beacom, Co Fermanagh.

Next at 14,000gns was Pager Jackpot, another Buckles Fury son, this time out of a Belvoir View Firefox daughter consigned by Tippetts and Jones, Shifnal. The buyer was Miller Farms, Inverurie, which was also one of the buyers of Thacka Just in Time by Woodies Hotspot from G. Pyman, Penrith, along with Stuart Wood and Messrs Ingram, with the partnership paying 8,000gns.

Also selling for 8,000gns was the second prize winning ram lamb, Buckles Jaegarbomb, the first son of Lurg Goliath to be sold, from Jack and Tom Buckle, Barras, which was knocked down to Louie Van Geffen, Carlton in Cleveland.

Top priced aged ram at 2,800gns was Faughill Francisco by Ryder DIY from Procters Farm, Wennington, which sold to Messrs Carlile, Penrith.

Females

The Todhall flock also topped the female trade at 12,000gns for Todhall Hey Baby, a shearling gimmer by Wannop's Gaucho which sold to Messrs Jones, Llanrwst.

Next at 6,000gns from Andrew Baillie was the second prize winner, Callacrag Halo by Wannop's Firecracker which went to Messrs O'Brien, Co Donegal.

The female champion, Pointhouse Hotstuff, a shearling gimmer by Murrays Expert from M. and K. Diamond, sold for 2,400gns to Messrs Norman, Carlisle.

Averages - 6 aged rams, £1,303.75; 532 shearling rams, £1,721.71; 107 ram lambs, £1,999.41; 188 shearling gimmers, £706.15.
