New Jacob shearling ram record set

This was for the reserve champion, a two-horned shearling ram, Beiliau Lancaster, from L. Trumper and family, Abergavenny. By Hope Casino, out of a home-bred Border Windrush-sired dam, the buyers were Newtoncroft Farms, Newton Harcourt, Leicester.

At 1,800gns, R.F. and D.J. Price, Churchstoke, Powys, bought the four-horned ram lamb Hope Red Devil from D.W. Harries, Llandeilo. By Hope Rory, it is out of a home-bred Pike Field Braveheart-sired dam.

Bids

There were two bids of 1,100gns, both going to Scottish buyers. The first was the Beiliau Maserati-sired two-horned 2021-born ram Kinloch Kaiser, from M. Munro, Ladybank, Fife, selling to I. Forsyth, Aberlour. The second was from the Skipton-based Haworth family, selling to A. Scott, Huntly, Aberdeen, for Hurrsdale Stormtrooper, a two-horned ram lamb by Wharf Rocket, out of a home-bred Beiliau Ricky dam.

The day's champion was also from Messrs Harries. The two-horned ewe lamb by Hope Rory, another son of the Pike Field sire, made 1,000gns and sold to J. Hardman, Windermere.

Ewe lamb

Another 1,000gns bid secured a two-horned ewe lamb from Connor and Dalrymple's Dunmor flock, Linlithgow, which sold to Messrs Ridout and Higginson, Cheshire.

Averages - 7 aged ewes, £171.83; 32 shearling ewes, £278.56; 37 ewe lambs, £237.03; 3 aged rams, £490; 4 shearling rams, £1,260; 12 ram lambs, £628.25.
