The 10th annual Spotlight dairy sale at Sedgemoor peaked at 6,200gns.

Shakira shines at Spotlight sale

 The sale leader consigned by David and Matt Jones, Monmouth, was a granddaughter of one of the most famous cows in the world, Erbacres Snapples Shakira EX97. It sold to the Dunn and Mccormick families, both from Northern Ireland.

Peter Waring, Beverely, sold Winton Chief Cutes bred from the Cramar family and with five generations of dams all in excess of 94 points, for 5,400gns to Laurence Gay, Axminster.
Jonny Lochhead and Jessica Miller, Dumfries, sold a red granddaughter of Cheers EX95, an American show cow for 5,200gns to Andrew Patton, Northern Ireland.

At 4,000gns was the top priced Jersey offering from D. and L. Millar, Lockerbie, which was the first choice of two calves to be born in October 2023 from Kevetta Chrome Violin.

Arwyn Wilson, Cardigan, sold a freshly calved member of the Ghost family at 3,600gns with its Robin Red heifer calf selling for 1,000gns.

In-calf heifers sold to 3,600gns for Woodmarsh Unix Ruth from Arwyn Wilson with the maiden heifer, Davlea Delta Lambda Alicia from Ian and Max Davies, Ilminster, also making 3,600gns.

The top priced Brown Swiss at 3,200gns was Kedar Martini Snick On The Beach from Messrs Lochhead and Dairy Shorthorns sold to 1,500gns for Cotonhall Roulette Kirklevington from R. Norman, Yeovil.

Averages - Holstein - calved heifres, £3,465; in-calf heifers, £2,450; maiden heifers, £2,674; calves, £2,313; embryos, £399; Jersey - first choice, £4,200; calved heifers, £1,890; calf, £1,260; Brown Swiss - maiden heifer, £3,360; Dairy Shorthorn, £1,575.
