Welsh Black heifer reigns supreme at Pembrokeshire

A donated Beltex cross shearling has helped raise thousands of pounds for charity at Rugby Farmers Mart.

AT Thame Summer Sheep 16,669 breeding and store sheep went under the hammer along with 205 rams with the sale grossing just over 2.5million.

As host to the Galloway National Show, it was a triumphant result for the breed when they took home the inter-breed championship. Katie Fallon reports.

Some 500 plus sheep were forward for judging at this year’s Garstang show, with judge Frank Towers, Lancaster, responsible for the final inter-breed judging.
