Farming unites behind Hawkstone Farmers' Choir ahead of Britain's Got Talent final

The farming industry has come together to back the Hawkstone Farmers' Choir ahead of the group's appearance in the live final of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, May 30.

In a special video produced by Farmers Guardian, some of the biggest names in agriculture sent messages of support to the choir as they prepare to perform in front of millions of viewers.

The live final will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX on Saturday, May 30, from 7pm.

Viewers will be able to vote for their favourite act during the live show through the official ITV voting platform. Fans can register and vote online through ITV Vote, with voting opening and closing during the programme. Each registered mobile number is typically allocated up to five free votes per voting event.

The Farmers' Choir certainly did agriculture proud with their stellar semi-final performance which saw them sail straight through to the final through the audience vote.

The 30-strong group, made up of farmers from across the UK, brought the house down with their rendition of Pompeii by Bastille.

The choir were given a standing ovation from judges Amanda Holden and KSI.

Amanda, who gave the choir her golden buzzer in the audition, said: "Farming touches every single person in this country."

KSI said: "The whole of the UK knows how important each and every one of you is. That was one of the best choir acts I have ever heard in my life."

And even BGT's toughest judge, Simon Cowell, had kind words for the group.

He said: "I actually really liked the song. I love what you stand for. It might be a bit annoying to see Jeremy Clarkson's smug face is the only downside. Well done."

Speaking to Farmers Guardian, Ben Brooke, an arable farmer from March in Cambridgeshire, said: "I cannot believe it. I genuinely cannot believe it. It's. Yeah. Thank you so much for everybody that voted for us.

"Who would have thought a load of farmers would get to the final of Britain's Got Talent."

Northumberland farmer Katryna Shell added it was unbelievable.

"I cannot even put it into words. It is absolutely incredible. Thank you so, so much. And then just the final to go and you need to vote one last time.

Ms Shell added it had been a massive rollercoaster of a journey.

"And I feel like we are just at the start of something really special as well."

Back in March, the choir got the ‘golden buzzer' treatment, putting them into the semi-finals.

Farmers responded to the call to back them by voting in the semi-final, and the choir will be calling on the industry's support once again as they take to the stage in the final.
