Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch told Farmers Guardian that conflict in the Middle East must be a wake up call for the Government to back food production in the UK

Kemi Badenoch said: "We are approaching an emergency the way things are going. We need to make sure we can grow more of our own food. [But] I am worried that is not going to happen because loads of people are deciding to leave farming. There has been a record number of farm closures in the last 12 months, and it is because every day it is one problem after another."

Conflict in the Middle East should stimulate the Government to bolster the UK's food security and to recognise the value of a nation being able to feed itself during such uncertain times, the Conservatives...
