Top price for the flock from Kirkby Stephen, was a January-born embryo by the home-bred 30,000gns Howgillfoot Commander, a Pyeston Real Deal daughter. Bred from the same family as the 25,000gns Lakeview sold last year, it is out of a Frongoy Rocket daughter. It was knocked down to A. Allman, Okehampton, who also paid  22,000gns Howgillfoot ewe lamb which this time is by Castleisle Blackadder and out of a different Frongoy Rocket daughter.

At 12,000gns was the number one from James Innes' Strathbogie flock, Huntly. This Rempstone Gambler gimmer is out of a Crewelands Kingpin daughter. It sold to Messrs Priestley, County Down, in lamb to Howgillfoot Royal Mint.

Two shared a 10,000gns price tag including the pre-sale champion, a ewe lamb by Rhaeadr Northern Champ from Myfyr Evans, Denbigh. Selling to Messrs Barclay, Aberdeenshire, it is out of a 16,000gns Kings ewe by Castlewood Shark.

Also at 10,000gns when sold to Cannon Hall Farm, Barnsley, was the reserve champioin, a Lakeview 1 Up gimmer from Charlie and Tom Boden's Sportsmans flock, Stockport. It scanned a pair to the 15,000gns Howgillfoot Rocky and its dam is by the 200,000gns Salopian Solid Gold.

Two lots later, Messrs Watson, Cumbria, paid 7,000gns for another Lakeview 1 Up-sired Sportsmans gimmer carrying twins to Howgillfoot Rocky. It is out of a Bridgeview ewe by Frongoy Forenze.

Stewart Lathangie, Fife, saw his Pyeston gimmer by Sportsmans Masterplan sell to Messrs Jones, Dyfed, for 6,000gns. Bred from a Limestone Marksman daughter, it scanned three to the £25,000 Pyeston Royal Flush.

Also at 6,000gns, this time selling to Messrs Wason, Fife, was a Frongoy gimmer by Cairness Milton from Dafydd Jones, Aberystwyth. It is out of a Strathbogie Rock On Tommy daughter and scanned a single to Bridgeview Banker.

Averages: 45 shearling ewes, £3,248; 16 ewe lambs, £6,424.69; 2 implanted pregnancies, £1,417.50; overall, 63 head, £3,996.66.
