Farm Safety Week: 5 easy ways to make your farm safer

1. A Tidy yard is a safe yard

Slips and trips cause 23% of non-fatal farm injuries every year so keep walkways clear, tools stored and surfaces clean. A tidy yard is not just nice, it can be life-changing.

2. Slow down to stay safe

68% of UK farmers say rushing is the biggest reason for not working safely so take your time - cutting corners can cost more than just time.

3. Take a break

You would not overwork your tractor so why push yourself past your limits? Rested farmers make safer decisions.

4. Stop. Think. Act.

Before any task, ask:

What could go wrong? Who could get hurt? How bad could it be? How can I prevent it?

And of course, number five.

5. Who Would Fill Your Boots?

If something happened to you today, who would carry on? Think about them and then work safely for them.
