A brand new series featuring a well-liked young farmer is back for a second series.

Channel 5 has revealed Reuben Owen: A Life in the Dales is back for a brand new season on Tuesday (May 20), which focuses on the young farmer and how, with help from friends and family, he runs a heavy-plant machinery business in the heart of rural Yorkshire.

Our Yorkshire Farm lands second series

Reuben Owen rose to fame as a star of Our Yorkshire Farm which followed his family's hill farming adventure in the Yorkshire Dales.

Mr Owens' parents, Clive and Amanda, both feature in the second series to see his new business in action, with memories flowing of life when the 21-year-old was just a child.

Clive said: "Well it does not seem five minutes since you were sitting on my knee on that little old tiny digger, playing away and moving the pile and then putting it back again."

Amanda added: "I am so proud of him, he is doing really, really well.

"It is what he always wanted to do.

"Right from him being a little lad, it has always been about tractors and machinery. And from the age of about 10, he really sort of immersed himself in the world of diggers and engines, basically.

Turning a dream into a reality

"And you do not know where things lead to. And as you grow up, your dreams can sometimes change, your ambitions can change.

"But with him, that was his focus. That was what he wanted to do. And he seems to also have skill there.

"Not only did it fascinate him, he was pretty good at it.

"And if you combine those two, you are going to go places."

Jobs in Agriculture: Could a job in farming be for you?

Speaking on running his own business, Mr Owen admits it is still a 'dream' to be running his own business and to have the limelight focusing on his endeavours, but added it does not overshadow the hard-work rural communities demonstrate day in and day out.

"I can not believe I have my own heavy-machinery company, aged 21, and if the cameras want to follow me and watch, then that is great," he added.

Hard-work pays off

"The production crew love it when something goes wrong, of course, but we always find a way through.

"In the country, people have to be self-sufficient, we can turn our hands to almost anything and we always help each other out."

Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales returns at 8pm on Tuesday (May 20).
