Visitors at Agritechnica get their first glimpse of the Fendt 600

Shown at a limited press event in September, Agritechnica was the first public viewing of Fendt's new mid-range tractor offering. Providing a power output of between 164 - 224hp, the 600 range sits between the 500 Vario and the 2022 launched 700 Vario Gen7 ranges

Power is supplied from an all-new AgcoPower five-litre, four cylinder engine which Fendt says gives the machine the power of a larger six-cylinder design with the compact, manoeuvrable dimensions of a four. Advantages of this engine layout include a reduction in the overall machine length with a wheelbase of 2.7 metres, a claimed reduction in equivalent fuel consumption, and an overall reduction in mechanical parts.

The design uses several features launched on the larger 700 Gen7 including the manufacturers VarioDrive system. This layout utilises a twin hydraulic motor for the front and rear drives supplied by a central pump. When turning, the front axle can be driven faster, pulling the front of the machine and creating a claimed turning circle. The largest 224hp 620 Vario also claims to be the most powerful four-cylinder production tractor, knocking Agco rival Valtra with its 201hp N175 off the top spot.
