Young Farmer Focus

Cameron Knee, 28, is from Bath, Somerset, but currently works as a farm manager on a mixed farm in Aberdeen.

Matthew Butterfield, 18, lives in Wimborne, Dorset. He is starting at Harper Adams University in September as part of the access to agriculture programme and will study a BSc in agriculture.

Scott Thomson, 24, is from Jedburgh and currently a farm safety representative for the Border Federation of Young Farmers.

Katie Smith, 21, is from Birmingham but based at Harper Adams University during the term time. She is currently studying veterinary medicine at Harper Keele Veterinary School.

Edward Lord, 19, is from Market Drayton, North Shropshire and has recently completed his first year of studying agriculture with business management at Aberystwyth University.

Kitty Stainsby, 25, is originally from Sussex. She now farms in the Forest of Dean, near Ruardean, Gloucestershire, with her partner James, 26, who is also a first generation farmer.

Eveey Hunter, 27, works for the family farm business, managing the admin and accounts as well as provides freelance consultancy work for other haulage and farm businesses. She is also on the NFU Student and Young Farmer Ambassador programme, and recently launched a farm safety initiative asking farmers to list five things they could do to make their farm safer.

Amy Gouldthorpe, 21, lives on her family’s mixed farm in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. She is studying an agriculture with animal science degree at Harper Adams University.

Charlotte Bevan, 26, grew up on a Herefordshire farm and works as a senior accounts administrator for CXCS, a firm of agricultural compliance advisers.

Hannah Rees, 24, is from Clarbeston Road, Pembrokeshire. She is currently studying at Harper Adams University and has completed a research project looking at mental health within agriculture.
