Push for tenant farmers to complete working group survey

Tenant farmers are being urged to respond to a survey by the Tenancy Working Group, set up by Government and chaired by Baroness Kate Rock.

About 300 responses have already been received, but Baroness Rock is keen to get at least 1,000 before the study closes in the next two weeks.

The survey is seeking the views of tenant farmers on a range of topics, including access to the new Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes, tree planting and access to private markets for carbon, biodiversity net gain and ecosystem services.

Baroness Rock said: Defra Secretary George Eustice established the Tenancy Working Group to provide the Government with a clear set of bold recommendation to ensure both the resilience of the tenanted sector of agriculture and its ability to access public and private schemes for environmental improvement.

It is vital, therefore, that we have as broad a spectrum of views from the tenanted sector as possible to ensure all the recommendations the working group makes are evidence-based.

The response rate so far has been amazing but before the survey closes in the coming weeks, we want to ask those tenants who have not yet seen or completed the survey to take 10 minutes to share their views with us.

The more voices we hear, the better able we are to understand how the tenanted sector is feeling and shape our recommendations for Defra.
