GB Potatoes has commissioned a website, which is currently under construction (gb-potatoes.co.uk), which will set out its mission and vision for the organisation. The organisation aims to become a trusted and reputable voice of the industry able to effectively represent the interests of all elements of the supply chain. “A platform for innovation and growth to help the Great British potato industry thrive,” says GB potatoes.
If growers agree with the concept of GB Potatoes, its organisers are saying, “it is very important that you voice your support by emailing,‘[email protected]’. There may not be another opportunity.”
GB Potatoes is a proposal from potato industry for an efficient organisation, owned and controlled by growers and the supply chain. It was announced to the industry in Dec 2021, consultation with growers has been taking place in 2022. The proposed organisation would to be funded by a modest subscription from members.
Now that the wind down of AHDB potatoes is nearing completion, there is no organisation that represents the interests of the whole potato industry in Great Britain.GB Potatoesis one of the new organisations, who have been proposed to fill the void left by the closure of AHDB potatoes.
