New ideas wanted for future farming programme

FARMERS are being asked to come forward with ideas for new research as part of a £125,000 programme.

Part of the Duchy Originals Future Farming Programme, in conjunction with the Soil Association, it is asking for an outline of problems farmers face and the benefits of solving them.

Organisers will then choose the best to be tackled as part of the sustainable agriculture project. The deadline is January 5, 2013. Visit

  • What we need is not more research but more COMMON SENSE.
Industrial scale agriculture simply makes more dosh for the suppliers and supermarkets and less and less for the famer - at the same time depleting soil nutrition and polluting the world.
