Positive outlook for tractor sales in 2012
The final count for tractors over 50hp registered in the UK last year was 14,094 which is an increase of 5.6 per cent compared to the previous year.
This latest figure follows a two year decline from 2008 when tractor sales peaked at 17,104.
The average size of tractor sold last year was about 144hp which is 1.8 per cent up on the previous year.
According to the Agricultural Engineers Association, the immediate outlook for sales appears strong, with UK farming enjoying a period of reasonable prosperity. Also, a further incentive to make early purchasing decisions will be spurred on by the Initial Annual (tax) Allowances which will come to an end in April.
It adds,at this time the industry believes that sales should hold up quite well this year but they are likely to be concentrated in the early part of the year.
