Colostrum has a role to play
GIVING heifer calves enough quality colostrum could reduce the chance of them going lame as milking animals, suggested Prof David Logue of Glasgow University.
He said more research was needed in this area, but ensuring good growth rates and development in heifers was likely to impact their resistance to lameness later in life.
