Willes case adjourned
NOCTON Dairies director Peter Willes is due to appear before magistrates in April to face three charges brought by the Environment Agency, after a hearing scheduled for this week was adjourned.
Mr Willes had been due to appear at Barnstaple magistrates court yesterday (Wednesday, March 2), but the case has now been adjourned until April 12.
The charges all relate to incidents at Beckland Farm, Hartland, in Devon, dating back to February 2010.
The agency is accusing Mr Willes of depositing, or of knowingly causing or permitting the deposit of, controlled waste, including veterinary materials, plastics, fridges, tyres, and light bulbs, on land not covered by an environmental permit.
The other two charges relate to water pollution incidents involving slurry, milk and silage effluent in an unnamed stream at Beckland Farm.
Nocton Dairies recently abandoned plans for a 3,770-cow dairy unit in Lincolnshire.
