THERE are a number of agri-environment schemes in operation throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Find out more about how the schemes work and where you can apply for funding.
Agri-environment schemes
In England, agri-environment schemes come under the auspices of Natural England and come under the umbrella heading of environmental stewardship. The five agri-environment schemes in Wales are being incorporated into a single whole farm scheme, Glastir, from 2012.
In Scotland the previous schemes have been incorporated into the Scotland Rural Development Programme and includes the Crofting Counties Agricultural Grant Scheme, Forestry Commission Challenge Funds and Less Favoured Area Support Scheme.
