
Goldies Upperclass
Overall, the 38 Charolais bulls averaged £11,481, an increase of £4,692/head on the year. Achieving the day's top price of 30,000gns was the reserve junior champion, Goldies Upperclass, a 17-month-old bull from Hamish Goldie's 80-cow herd at Mouswald, Dumfries.
One of the first batch of sons by Falleninch Stormzy, a bull bought jointly for 28,000gns at Stirling in 2022, its dam was Goldies Niece, a daughter of Gretnahouse Heman. Upperclass was knocked down to Allen Drysdale, Glenericht, Blairgowrie, and Robert Young, Mornity, Alyth.
Goldies
The Goldies pen had four more at five-figure prices, including the Stormzy sons, Goldies Unionjack, which sold at 20,000gns to Bill Bruce, Balmyle, Meigle, and Goldies Unstoppable, which made 13,000gns to Rhindhu Farm, Glenlivet. Goldies Uppercrust, by Gretnahouse Heman, sold for 17,000gns to James Brown, Broughton, and Goldies United, by Caylers Rocky, made 16,000gns to J.O. and R. Struthers, Cobbinshaw.

The Smeaton family, Inverarity, had a memorable day with bulls from their 25-cow Bombax herd. They achieved their top price yet, when Bombax United by Harestone Ronaldinho, sold at 20,000gns to G.T. Wordie, Glass. Another by the same sire, Bombax Upshot, sold at 12,000gns to Frazer Goldie, Darvel.
Charolais champion
The Charolais champion, Ouston Unwin, bred by Ouston Farms and sold by Richard and Carol Rettie, Slamannan, reached 15,000gns. This son of Major went to W. Stevenson and Son, Ballantrae.
Not far behind, the reserve champion, Silvermere Vortex, a Wesley Equinox son from Michelle Hanson and Darren Irvine, Keith, sold at 14,000gns to J.A. Wilson and Son, Glenkindie.
Best for the Campbell family's Thrunton consignment, Alnwick, was 15,000gns for Thrunton Ultrabrite, a Rutherston Sonny son which sold to P.M. and S.M. Donger, Seawell, Towcester.
Leading Neil and Stuart Barclay's Harestone entry, Insch, was Harestone Unionjack by Harestone Romeo, which made 13,000gns, also to Messrs Donger.
At the same money, Louise McArthur, Balfrom, sold her Harestone Rockafella son, Endrick Vulcan, for 13,000gns to Messrs Macmillan, Islay.
Andrew and Jo Morris' Olrig dispersal topped at 8,500gns for the stock bull, Firhills Rex, while cow and calf units sold to 5,200gns.
Simmentals
Demand was also high for Simmental bulls, ensuring 100% clearance for the 25 bulls on offer and a sale average of £8,795, an increase of £2,075 on the year.
Top price was 15,500gns for the first prize winner, Delfur Prince, from Delfur Farms, Rothes. By the 28,000gns Islavale Magnum, this one went to W. Moffat, Dunbar.

Pitgaveny Farms, Elgin, sold the first prize winner, Pitgaveny Presto by Islavale Kristoff at 13,000gns to G. and M. Porter, Carrabus, Argyll.
The champion and reserve bulls, both Islavale Lucifer sons from the Stronachs' Islavale herd, Keith, made 12,000gns, with Islavale Pegasus selling to Liam Muir, Orkney, and Islavale Pilot going to J. and J. Marshall, Daleigh, Advie.
Aberdeen-Angus
Aberdeen-Angus bulls also met 100% clearance, with 21 averaging £8,325, up by £3,030 on the year. Trade peaked at 12,000gns twice, with Thrunton Puma making that money first for the Campbells, Alnwick. The Tonley Kasper son sold to S. and J. Fisher, Bonchester Bridge.

Also making 12,000gns was Blelack Hill Black Jester, a Tonley Jester Eric son from A.N. Calcott and Son, Blelack, Dinnet. It was knocked down to the Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness.

The champion Aberdeen-Angus, Tonley Victor, a Gretnahouse Krack Light son from the Wattie family, Alford, sold at 11,000gns to R. Forrest, Preston, Duns, while Tonley Electric by Saville Endeavour, also made 11,000gns, selling to Messrs Bryce, J. Price, Cairneydrouth, Cardross
The reserve champion, Drumhill Pure Contemporary, from Jonathan and Lisa Doyle, Cookstown, sold for 10,000gns to David Walker, Galcantray, Cawdor, while the Barclays took 10,000gns for Harestone Blackjack, which sold to J. and R. Stanger, Sandwick, Orkney.
Salers
A small entry of Salers met a strong demand, with a new breed record set when the champion, Rednock Top Gun, sold at 20,000gns. Bred by Gill and Malcolm Pye, Stirling, and brought out by stockman Iain McGregor, this one was by the imported stock bull, Senateur and out of Rednock Coco. It sold to Messrs Donger.

The Pyes' reserve champion, Rednock Topol, also by Senateur, sold at 14,000gns to D.A. Baird and Sons, Ninewells.
At 15,000gns Farmstock Genetics, Selkirk, sold their two-year-old bull, Cumbrian Trevor Poll, a son of Parkfield Polled Nobel, at 15,000gns to Gordon Church, Bridge of Cally.
Overall, the nine Salers bulls averaged out at £10,663, up £3,435 on the year.
Beef Shorthorns
Beef Shorthorns met a steady trade selling to a top of 8,500gns twice, with 13 bulls averaging £6,647. Making joint top price was the reserve champion for Upsall Castle Farms, Thirsk, was Trade Mark of Upsall, a son of Nelson of Upsall which sold to T. Walker, Eden.
Also at 8,500gns was from Gerald and Morag Smith, Laurencekirk, was Drumsleed Triton, by Coxhill Pierce, which was knocked down to G. and A. Milne, Durris.

Limousins
The Limousin breed finished off the day on a high, enjoying a 93% clearance, with 39 bulls selling to average £8901, £2201 more than last year's sale.
Hitting the top spot was the champion, Anside Urban, from the Irvine family, Keith. This son of Plumtree Fantastic sold at 22,000gns – a breed record for the May sale and one of nine Limousins to make a five-figure price on the day. It joins the Priestleys' Brontemoor herd, Brampton.

The reserve junior champion from the Irvines, Anside Uian by Grahams Rooney, sold at 15,000gns to Willie Steel, Lesmahagow. From the same home, Anside UFC by Plumtree Fantastic, reached 13,000gns to R.J. Shennan and Sons, Turnberry.
Bulls from Bruce Goldie, Townfoot, Mouswald, sold to 15,000gns for the reserve senior champion, Goldies Uno, by Woodmarsh Regent, which was another to head home with the Shennans.
Another Woodmarsh Regent son, Goldies Uniroyal, sold at 14,000gns to J. Penny and Son, Shannas, Mintlaw.
