A farmer in Wales has had a flock of sheep stolen from their farm in the Brecon Beacons National Park. 

Brecon, Crickhowell and Hay on Wye Police confirmed 40 ewes had been stolen from a farm in the Y Gelli, between Heol Senni and the Crai Reservoir, sometime around August 26 and September 2.

According to NFU Mutual's Rural Crime Report for 2023, the theft of livestock cost farmers an estimated £2.7m.

Police Scotland's Forth Valley team said a similar incident had taken place in Fossoway near Kinross earlier this year when 40 sheep were stolen from a farm.

The flocks' value to the Scottish farmer was an estimated £5,400.
