Soutar Johnnie sells for £3,100 post-show
THE Winter Fair champion, Soutar Johnnie, from Hugh and Lynn Dunlop, made £3,100 when the steer came under the hammer after show. Buyer was Paul’s Quality Butchers, Kilsyth.
The reserve champion, the pure-bred Limousin heifer from Michael and Melanie Alford, left the ring unsold.
A bid of £2,900 secured Gavin Scott’s butcher’s beast winner for John Anderson, North Berwick, while the reserve from Neil Slack sold at £3,000 to Iain Stark, Inchture.
In the lamb auction, the champion pair made £300 per head to J. Mulholland, Great Orton, Carlisle while the reserves made £165 to R. Lawson, Carnwath, Lanark.
Auctioneers were Caledonian Marts, Stirling.
