Rhos Ayrshire makes 3,200gns at Cardigan
BIDDING peaked at 3,200gns at a production sale from the Rhos Ayrshire herd sold at Cardigan cattle market on behalf of S.P.R. and L. Reed, Blaenannerch, Cardigan.
A main entry of 71 in-calf Ayrshire heifers, mainly in-calf to sexed semen, sold to a flying trade and top money was paid for Rhos Haresfoot Guppy Command.
Out of Haresfoot Ella 48, this heifer sold to Geraint Thomas, Llangennech, Llanelli.
At 2,100gns, Rhos Windsor Rosehill, a Rosehill Blackthorn daughter, sold to Iwan and Bethan James, of Llandysul.
Next at 1,880gns was Rhos Windsor Mc Nelly. By McCornick Nelson, and out of Windsor Grades Elf.
This one sold, along with four other heifers, to the Jones Family, Beulah, Newcastle Emlyn.
Rosehill Blackthorn daughter
At 1,780gns was Rhos Windsor Tango Thorn, another Rosehill Blackthorn daughter. It was knocked down to the Glowin herd of the Thomas family, Pontsian, Llandysul. A small number of freshly-calved cows sold to 1,650gns for Rhos Lillia.
This Gupton Lieutenant Commander daughter, calved four weeks, sold to Hywel Thomas, Hebron, Pembrokeshire.
One freshly-calved heifer, Rhos Windsor Cracking Lad, giving 30 litres daily, sold to 1,650gns to Mark Chetwynd, Mydroilyn, Lampeter.
Her heifer calf, Rhos Windsor Grey, at one-week-old, sold for 370gns to the Eynon family, Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire.
A batch of non-pedigree Friesian in-calf heifers peaked at 1,700gns and the four-year-old non-pedigree British Blue bull made 3,800gns to John Jenkins, Spittal, Haverfordwest.

7 calved cows, £1,416; 1 calved heifer, £1,732.50; 71 Ayrshire in-calf heifers, £1,522.18; 14 non-pedigree Friesian in-calf heifers, £1,332; pedigree Ayrshire bull, £945.
