Swaledale gimmers sell to £2,000 top at Hawes
AVERAGES were up £168 on the year at a sale of Swaledale females at Hawes recently with prices peaking at £2,000 for gimmer shearlings.
Sale leader was a fourth placed entry from M.K. Skidmore, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham, selling to R. Metcalfe.
Ewes sold to £1,000 with gimmer hoggs selling to a £700 top.
Averages: gimmer hoggs £438; gimmer shearlings £739; ewes £560; 36 head overall, £593.72 (up £168 on 2009).
