Suffolk ram sees £966 top at Exeter
THE National Sheep Association has reported a ‘cracking trade for rams’ at its South West ram sale at Exeter Market, with average prices moving strongly forward on last year.
Just under 500 rams were forward, and topping the trade at £966 was a Suffolk ram lamb from R. Irwin, Umberleigh.
A Texel shearling followed at £924 from P. and A. Quick, Zeal Monachorum, Crediton.
The top price Charollais was £714 realised on three occasions for shearling rams.
Averages: Texel shearlings £532.03; Charollais £531; Suffolks £500.70 (£395.49 in 2009).
