Meonhill Texel flock sees shearling top at 700gns
PRICES peaked at 700gns when the Meonhill Texel flock came under the hammer at Worcester for L.E.P. Farms, Hampshire.
Sale topper was a shearling ewe by Sportsmans Oswald, which had won reserve breed champion at Surrey County show. The hammer fell to D. Farmer, Petersfield, Hampshire.
Shearling ewes sold to 680gns and 650gns for Lumbylaw Madras daughters going to J.M. and C.E. Mitchell, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The same buyers took a two-year-old at 600gns.
Ewe lambs peaked at 380gns for a February-born single by Lumbylaw Madras selling to S. and A. Ayres, Ludlow, Shropshire.
A guest consignment of shearling ewes from Drayton Farm Partnership’s Meon Valley flock peaked at 610gns for a Sportsmans Oswald daughter to E.I. Davies, Llangadog, Carmarthen.
Averages: 42 flock ewes, £236.50; 29 shearling ewes, £320.79; 8 ewe lambs, £261.45; 10 Meon Valley shearling ewes, £261.45.
