Marts round-up - January 29
DUNGANNON
A LARGE entry of steers sold to £1,270 (164.50p/kg) for a 770kg British Blue heifer, last week, with heifers selling to £925 (171p/kg) for a 540kg Charolais.
Calves peaked at £278 for a Limousin bull with heifers topping at £240 also for a Limousin.
SELBY
A SALE of store and breeding cattle and store sheep at Selby on Saturday saw a pedigree two-year-old Limousin bull sell for £2,100.
On the same day, store bulls sold to £875 for an eight-month-old Limousin cross and a nine-month-old British Blue cross bull realised £750. Store Texel hoggs made up to £75.
WHARFEDALE
AN entry of 20 pens of Swaledale and Dalesbred hoggs were forward on Monday with Kevin Wilson, Blubberhouses, taking the championship in both sections.
The winning Dalesbred hoggs sold for £79.50 to Nathan Brown for Dalesbred butchers, Bentham, and £75.20 was realised for the winning Swaledales. These went to G. Kirby and Son, Bishop Thornton.
