Lodgebank dispersal peaks at £1,800
THE complete dispersal of Donald, Pat and Katie Burns’ Lodgebank herd of Holstein in-calf and maiden heifers based at Clapham, Lancaster, achieved an overall sale average of £1,102.
Sale highlights included Lodgebank Jordan Hilt Kate 119, a Roylane Jordan March 2007-born heifer. In-calf to the herd’s stock bull - Lodgebank Bolt - it sold at £1,800 to Robin and Anthony Batty, Burneside, Kendal.
In the bulling heifer section Robert and Elaine Butterfield of the Ingleview herd, Bentham, gave the top price of £1,520 for Lodgebank Calypso Yvonne 299 by Nor-Bert Calypso.
Heifer stirks sold to £1,050 twice for Lodgebank Retinue Maisie, a Cogent Retinue Red daughter and Lodgebank Icefyre Matty 170 a Braedale Icefyre daughter. Both sold to Aubrey Greenhalgh.
Averages: in-calf heifers £1,448.93; bulling heifers £1,027.14; heifer stirks £798; overall £1,102.
