Local buyer's top bid at Ynysau flock sale
THE on-farm dispersal of the Ynysau Texel flock for Gwynfor and Bethan Richards, Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire, was met by a packed ringside of both local and distant buyers.
It was, however, a local buyer who secured the top price ewe at 1,200gns. Out of a Cambwell ewe sired by Haddo Limited Edition, this three-year-old ewe sold to Irena Lewis of Einon Texels, Rhos, Llandysul. Shearling ewes peaked at 1,000gns for a Cambwell Orlando-sired ewe purchased by J. Luscombe, South Brent, Devon. The same buyer also bought the top priced ewe lamb at 620gns, this time out of a home-bred ewe by Baltier Kracker and sired by Haltcliffe Phoenix.
Averages: Aged ewes £295; shearling ewes £395; rams £637; ram lambs £457; ewe lambs £218.
Auctioneers: Clee Tompkinson and Francis.
