Hallfield Designer at 7,000gns leads Blonde Society show bids
A BID of 7,000gns led the trade at the Blonde Society’s early spring show and sale at Carlisle.
Top seller was Hallfield Designer, a 20-month-old bull from Peter and James Weightman, Peterlee, Northumberland.
By the herd’s stock bull, Blackwater Ainsley, and out of a home-bred daughter by Whistley Dollar, it sold to Mike Harrison for his Shapfell herd, Sleddale Hall, Shap.
Same home
Another from the same home made 6,500gns; this was Hallfield Destiny, another Ainsley son and out of a Ballygowan Noble sired cow. It took the reserve male championship before selling to the Ramrig herd of G. and A. Hamilton, Duns, Berwickshire.
The male champion, Brownhill Drew, a 23-month-old from Tom and John Hope of Strathaven, Lanarkshire, realised 4,800gns. Sired by Cromkill Sandy and out of a Whistley Publican bred mother it sold to A.R. and H.C. Thomas, Bridge End.
At 3,500gns was the October 2007-born Hackleton Convair from Hackleton Blondes, Northampton.
This son of Hadley Hank was knocked down to Messrs Fleming, Kelso. In the female section 2,000gns was achieved for a 21-month-old maiden heifer exhibited by Roy Kinnish, Bridgenorth, Shropshire. Kinaston Dione, a daughter of Kinaston Ulmas, sold to J.D. Southward of Millom.
