Haddo Texel reduction sale to 5,500gns
EWES sold to 5,500gns when a reduction sale of females from W.J. Knox’s Haddo Texel flock, Turriff, was held at Carlisle.
Top seller was a 2005-born Tophill Joe-sired ewe out of a Craighead Hercules-bred dam. The buyer was D.J. McKerrow, Cupar, Fife.
Next best was 3,000gns paid by R. and E. Owen, Colwyn Bay for a 2007-born Glenside Mylord-bred ewe. At the same money was the top-priced shearling gimmer by Combs Valley Nistleroy, a Glenside Minstrel son. It went to G. Morrison, Banff, Aberdeenshire.
Eight more sold at 1,500gns or more including three at 2,000gns.
Averages: 41 ewes, £1,020.04; 39 shearling gimmers, £964.65.
