Fresh heifer makes £2,000 at Skipton

A TOP of £2,000 was realised at the opening dairy fixture of the year at Skipton on Monday.

Sale topper was the show champion, a fresh heifer, from Malcolm and Robert Swires, Beckwithshaw, Harrogate.

The Swires, who hold the record for the most number of dairy championship successes at Skipton with their Whinhill Holstein Friesian commercial herd, followed up title wins in November and December last year.

The heifer, by Regancrest Dolman, sold (giving 33 litres) to Wick Williams, Nantwich.

The Swires also sent out the reserve champion, a fresh second calver, by Myersdale Sportsman, which sold to T. and M. Green, Wigan, for £1,900.
