Dungannon peak of 7,800gns as Charolais bulls average £2,962
CHAROLAIS bulls peaked at 7,800gns with 90 per cent clearance and a breed centre record of 57 entries sold to average £2,962 in Dungannon recently at the NI Charolais Club’s spring show and sale.
The day’s leader at 7,800gns was the 17-month-old Drumeer Donald which took the reserve junior championship.
A Burradon Talisman son and out of a home-bred cow by Doonally New, Donald was bred and exhibited by Edwin Morrison, Maguirebridge and sold to Noel Mcllwaine, Plumbridge, Omagh.
Senior champion
At 5,100gns was the senior champion Dartonhall Dougal, a rising two-year-old from John Erskine, Killylea. Sired by Corrie Alan and out of a Lyonsdemesne bred cow, the buyer was David Erskine, Crosses, Monaghan.
Another entry from the same exhibitor sold at 4,400gns. This was Dartonhall Dieogo, a 17-month-old Ashleigh Victor son to Gerard Mullan, Plumbridge, Omagh.
Leading female entry at 3,700gns was the section champion, Ferryroad Dora, a 21-month-old Allanfauld Superscot daughter and out of a home-bred dam by Roundhill Ohoh from Paul and Marie O’Kane, Bellaghy. She was knocked down to John Watson, Portadown.
